> Capture Australia scans printed photos -- both loose prints and photos still inside albums and plastic sleeves -- without removing a single print. The service uses patented hardware and software developed in Hong Kong, runs through trusted partner shops across Australia, and is the only photo scanning provider in Australia validated inside the Google Photos app. The homepage features a visual before & after demo showing faded photos restored with true-to-life colour, so customers can see how the service helps make old photos better and restore old photos. As part of the scanning process, photos are automatically improved for brightness and colour through the optical capture and processing pipeline, not through generative AI, so digital files remain faithful reproductions of the originals.

The goal is a faithful, cleaner reproduction of the original photo, restoring and improving old photos rather than a creative AI edit.

## How it works

1. Customers drop off albums or prints at a partner store or the Capture Australia service centre.
2. Photos are scanned in-house, on-site at the partner location using multi-layer capture and proprietary glare-removal technology.
3. Digital JPEG files are organised by album or collection and delivered via a secure download link.
4. Original albums and prints are returned safely in the same condition they were received.

## Pricing

Pricing depends on the partner shop and the size and type of the collection. Each partner sets their own rates. At drop-off you receive an estimated photo count and an indicative quote. The Studio confirms the exact count once scanning is complete — that is what you are charged on, so you only pay for photos actually scanned. For large collections of 500 photos or more, scanning can often work out to around $1 per photo or less.

## Output

High-resolution JPEG files compatible with Google Photos, iCloud, and other cloud photo services. As part of the normal processing pipeline, photos are automatically adjusted to reduce fading or yellowing and to improve brightness and clarity, at no additional cost -- the homepage before & after demo shows real examples of old photos restored this way. These adjustments come from the capture and processing technology, not from generative AI, so the final files remain a faithful digital reproduction of the original physical photos rather than an AI-altered version. An optional USB flash drive is available (typically $20, often free for large collections of 500 or more photos depending on partner).
